Automation has reached unprecedented levels of demand among business organizations because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up helping them improve efficiency and productivity without harming their profit margins. Salesforce just put out a new report that highlights the increased demand for automation among businesses, and this suggests that there will be increased investment in this sector from various commercial entities.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that around 90% of the organizations that were analyzed in this study said that they want to increase the level of automation in their work processes. In spite of the fact that this is the case, 96% stated that improving automation was quite challenging which might throw a wrench into the potential innovation and progress that can be made in this field.

There is also some concern among organizations that automating work flows might increase their technical debt with all things having been considered and taken into account. 80% of organizations agreed with this assertion, so while the importance and benefits of automation are undeniable businesses currently face significant challenges in meeting these goals.

A major issue with automation implementation is that there is a large margin for error. The faster an organization tries to switch to automated methods of work, the higher their level of risk would become. Creating sustainable long term goals can be better for businesses that are looking to increase automation. Thinking long term is also important because automation technology is changing quite rapidly. Automating within a short span of time might make the tech that a company is using obsolete which clearly reveals the essential nature of taking it slow.

It seems pretty likely that we will see a significantly increased level of automation in businesses, but they will need to tread carefully lest they negatively impact the experiences of their customers. Treating it like a race will only make certain companies adopt the wrong tech or implement it in a haphazard and inefficient way.
